How do you pronounce "Mandylion"?

("Mandylion" is one of the names given to the religious icon, the Image of Edessa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_of_Edessa. It's an apt name for such an iconic album.)

It's Man-DILL-e-on, as I learned from listening to an interview with Anneke

I pronounce it the same way as Marillion,
Maril-e-on - Mandyl-e-on
I guess that "lion" is not also pronounced as that English word, is it?

It's not supposed to be, but it's good for comic value. ;)

If you don't know the meaning behind it, the "y" does make "Mandy-lion" seem a reasonable pronunciation.
"Mandilion" would probably be pronounced correctly, but leads to the wrong meaning - a 16th century men's coat or jacket.

What do you mean, V? You seem to be expecting an answer, yet I can find no question.

:D Me too at first. But as Coyote points out however you pronounce it, it's still a great album.

Oh, okay:

"Mandy-lion" - phonetic pronunciation (my first guess, before I found the meaning behind it.)

"Man-dill-e-on" - the correct(?) pronunciation based on the correct(?) derivation: The Image of Edessa.

"Man-dill-yun" - a variation of above. (I found it somewhere on the web...)

"In the beginning" (at first) I've pronounced it it like
Mandy-lion. OK. It was the release of the album and I didn't know much
about it. "Months later", I've got the meaning about Mandylion
and also the right pronounciation.!
