I'm not a bootlegs freak but I like to have some selected bootlegs from my prefered bands (usually one per tour is more than enough for me) so I would like some of you bootlegs freaks gimme your opinion on which are the best 'the Gathering' bootlegs so far if you like.

Thx in advance.

Just about TG, And well my selection takes in account the gigs I've visited so... not really objective (but those boots ahve good sound anyway ;))

1995: Waregem
1998: Rotterdam (28.12.98)
1999: Paris (02.04.99)
2000: Paris (07.11.00) or Bochum (soundboard 21.11.2000)

I can't remmeber for other years... for 2003 I'd say Raismes maybe but you can't find it online yet for it's the next "bootleg of the month" (when the server is fixed again :-?)

I quiet like the 2003 recordings from Lille as well, but they're not as good as those ones in the 2 posts above mine!

Rotterdam 28.12.1998 - HTMAP tour, rare songs, etc.
Bochum 21.11.2000 - soundboard, stunning sound

and

Frankfurt 6.04.2003 - because it's fine and it's from "Souvenirs" tour... thus reminds me very much of the June gigs I've seen in Poland

Cheers,

M.

Really rules, apart from the bass is a but low in the mix.
But with a good stereo, that's to come over

Bochum is the best for the sound for sure.. But there is less atmo of a gig than in some others... due to no mic in the audience..

for me is the sound that first thing...the atmospher is a extra problem! All countries/citys and halls and all people are different in this!
I have last year a bootleg made with a reel to reel recorder (Grundig TS 925= a 2 track recorder!!!!) with two "electronic Kondensator microphones" from Grundig....but that had to many extra sounds in the backround  The microphones was too good for this experiment! For my taste!
cheers

For me bootlegs are souvenirs from gigs I was... Despite of the sound that has to be good of course, I always expect that the record tends to re-create the atmosphere of the gig...
Actually in most official live albums I find the sound far too polished... And also I find that the people is put too much at the background...
Ok, on boots it's often the opposite :-?

But ach, I said what boots were my faves ;) Those have a nice balance between stage and crowd sounds

@roar

You can find 2 songs from the Bochum show...

"Probably Built..." HERE
"Liberty Bell" HERE

I'd like to find the whole show, though.

the whole show was proposed around a year ago on Sand & Mercury... Thus with a p2p you could find it I guess...
