Anneke is making room for a new guitar. You will have the possibility to help her cleaning out her guitar closet.
The auction starts on April 14th and all the details are there :green:

Yeah! I like that black Gibson too. I already have black Alvarez,
that Gibson would be nice companion to it. :)

Btw Does anybody know in which song did Annie use that 12-stringed one? :o Or she has it just for playing country when nobody's home?

I think she's playing country when nobody's home. :green:
Can't recall any songs with 12 string. Have to listen
Sleepy Bildings.

I'd like a new guitar. A Gibson would be nice. But at this stage in my life, learning how to play the old guitar properly is a higher priority. I seem to have forgotten most of the stuff I used to play. That's what comes of listening to such excellent music nowadays.

If you want to play this guitar, it wouldn’t be right to buy it over the
internet anyway. You might not to like how it handles and sounds.
This is more like collectors item.

That one from the period of "HTMTP" is Gibson Epiphone Chet Atkins CE.
If I'm not mistaken it has Mahogany Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck and
Rosewood Fingerboard and Piezo pickup.
And of course, it sounds just great. :green:

Damn www!
Well the 12 strings has never been used for live or recordings that's all ;) But maybe René did use that one during the recording of Souvenirs... Or something... I saw this guitar once before... (check the Rockumentary of BLD?)

I hear what you're saying, very clearly, but I'm pretty certain that any Gibson would be a vast improvement compared to the very cheap six-string acoustic that I bought many years ago.

Gibson is very nice instrument. But Gibson Epiphone Chet Atkins CE
is also a pro instrument. Price is between 400 - 2700 US $.
That depends of the instrument. If we have a serial number we
will know the price.

I also meant to comment on the "collector's item" bit. My thinking is that instruments such as this are built to be played, rather than put in a glass case. I have the same feeling about antique instruments, such as old harpsichords in the drawing rooms of stately homes. Things get fragile over time of course, but in general, a machine made to be used should, I think, be used.

Guitars played by people such as Jimi Hendrix have achieved astounding prices at auction in recent years, but at the end of the day, they're just guitars. Of course there's an association with a person, but that's a bit like saying that the connecting lead from Rene's theremin will one day have a value. Isn't it?

Sure! Some people have big bucks to spend on rarities, and time to time
they bring those instruments out and show and play. Like David Gilmore
owns Fender Stratocaster serial number 001. There was a rumor, that he
brought this out and played on special Fender Event last year. Still most
of the time if you have something special you will take really good care
of it.
I actually plan to bid on that black butterfly unless the price is going to
be crazy. I still prefer Ovation for electric acoustic, I just like how it
sounds, but this is the matter of taste.
But here we go this is a special guitar, Anneke played it and of course I
plan to play it too, if I get lucky to get it. :)

Yes, I like the Ovation guitars. I'm not really a connoisseur, so I can't say I really know what I'd be looking for at a technical level (beyond certain obvious things).

As for the auction, I wish you every success.
