it's not unexpected, it's totally normal... it's just de generational change of fans... many of the old fans don't even enter here so obviously albums like mandylion, always or nighttime birds don't have too many votes

I fully agree with you. I'm probably a member of the HTMAP? generation but other people I know who listen to TG prefer NB and Mandylion... and they absolutely despise fan forums and would never even think of posting a message here (which is probaly closely related to the fact that they are not too familiar with using a computer but anyways... )

I love all of em' and I enjoy seeing how they progress and change their sound. I love Mandylion the best, though.

Souvenirs, easily. Originally I was mostly listening to The Gathering mainly because of Anneke's voice and not because I liked more than a handful of tracks. I never thought that TG were good songwriters until Souvenirs came out and opted for more ambient texture oriented music like they had in the title track of Nighttime Birds and the radio edit of Amity (think the acoustic guitars). The second half of the title track of Souvenirs is a great example of how they were able to build musically without the aid of their star frontlady.

I can't choose between htmap and nighttime birds....Those two albums are so very different. That makes it even harder to choose.
But I finally decided for htmap. (But it's very possible, that tomorrow I'd rather go for nighttime birds. It really depends on my daily mood.)

Well, has to be Mandylion, since that was the first outstanding album... so since Mandylion was their first great album, that wins it!

Followed by H2MAP? then Nighttime Birds :green:

After having changed my mind several mind, now it is definitly:

IF_THEN_ELSE

Best studio works, best arrangements, best instrumental song (the poignant and unusal "Pathfinder"), best unusual songs ("Pathfinder", the up-tempo "Shot To Pieces"), "Colorado Incident" and overall....."Amity" and "Analog Park"!!
Just skip its weakest songs. :P

My 2nd choice would be Souvenirs for the same first two reasons, and its hardly emotional side...When I listen to it I feel it as if i akways used to do it.
