I want to know of female-fronted with bands with or without male vocals. preferably without. If there are male vocals I would prefer if they weren't harsh. Also, I want something along the lines of The Gathering, Flowing Tears, Lacuna Coil, etc. More of their kinda singing instead of opera. Well-known or not well-known bands(all countries too!!) are welcome. I'm trying to build a collection 8) .

Fully seconded! "Contentum", "Terrestrials" and "Orgasm" feature probably the most original female vocals on a metal album so far. Lyrics, cover artwork and the music are also very special.

Gåte - Excellent Norwegian folk-rock band! Check out the two videos - one for downloading, one for live-streaming - on their website!

The Third And The Mortal - The metal influences are completely gone nowadays, but I still like this band very much. Check out the soundclips and the full-length video of "Magma" on their website.

Madder Mortem - Perhaps a bit too heavy for your taste. Try the mp3s on their website to find out for yourself. Agnete M. Kirkevaag has definitely some of the most powerful female voices in metal.

Dreams Of Sanity (Austrian band which doesn´t exist any longer. If you find any of their stuff, try their first album "Komödia" - it´s their best and it also features two female voclists.)

Soulslide - They feature former Dreams Of Sanity-vocalist Sandra Schleret.

Nemesea - You can download a full-length song, "Threefold Law" from the website of http://www.ebonytears.com .

Some non-metal stuff (so not rally similar to the bands you mentioned, but give it a try nevertheless):
Två Fisk Och En Fläsk
Värttinä
Suden Aika - Unfortunately it´s all in Finnish, but to get to the soundclips, click on "Musiikkia".
Gjallarhorn
Garmarna
Tactile Gemma
Mari Boine

You should also pay a visit to http://www.soniccathedral.com and check out the forum-section there. You might find a lot more of what you are looking for.

EvenVast is another good female-led band. The site is http://www.Even-Vast.com. 'Never Hear Me' is a really good song. Its heavier than you might expect but the melody of the vocalist carries the song well.

Hey, I just answered my own post  .

That's a good site, yeah. And if they aren't on that site, check out Miranda Sex Garden. Goth-y Alternative Rock with classically trained singers. They're just one of the best bands of the nineties! :flower:
