For me it's in motion #2. No doubt.
I'd even go so far to say that it belongs to my top 10 songs of all songs I know.

All the songs are great, but my favorite is Fear the Sea, because I discovered the band with this song. I love as Strange Machines and In motion #1

In Motion #1 has my vote. It seems to be an on-running trend wherever you look that #2 is everyone's favorite from Mandylion. I can't help but disagree immensely. The first one is much better.

i think the main reason people prefer in motion #2 is that lyrically it's more varied, and musically more varied and more emotional.

That's not to say In Motion #1 isn't emotional but it is just the same verse repeated.

Though i've been listening more and more to #1 lately, and Anneke's vocals have a very haunting quality in it...

So i think if you put them together and listen to them as 1 song, #1 and #2 are beautiful together (they should be listened to as kinda one, these 2 songs are kinda prog and are very closely linked)

Anyway, back to the topic.

Mandylion is such a beautiful album and STILL one of TG's best albums (along with NB and H2MAP)

This for me means that it is not possible to choose one track, they are all fantastic!

In Motion #1 is my favorite song of all time. The chorus is so haunting and beautiful, it almost makes me wanna weep. But the whole album is really excellent.

Yes! The best part of In Motion is the chorus and on #2 we only hear it once. #1 also has better music in it, better keyboard work, the verse features much more haunting vocals from Anneke, and then the instrumental parts are even stronger too. All of this making #1 a better choice.
