This band codified the 'beauty and the beast' used by so many copycats that had less quality and yet, had better luck and were more successful. They also survived losing their iconic singer who left them to live in Germany and didn't report, but apparently was shocked when she got sacked. Last tour dates for those lucky people who live in Europe:

12.03.2010 Berlin, K17 (GER)
13.03.2010 Sittard, Fenix (NL)
14.03.2010 London, Underworld (UK)
15.03.2010 Paris, La Scene Bastille (F)
16.03.2010 Frankfurt, Batschkapp (GER)
17.03.2010 Marseille, Le Poste Galene (F)
18.03.2010 Barcelona, Salamandra (E)
19.03.2010 Madrid, Caracol (E)
20.03.2010 Lisbon, Cine Teatro Corroios (PT)

And the last gig will be held at Stavenger, where it all began... I hope I can make it there as my budget is quite tight.

don't pay attention to their inspiration since 2001 or 2002 or something like that.

This band will always have a big music influence on me. Velvet Darkness hooked my past years. So did Aegis.

Had the chance to see them on stage with Liv at least in y life. On Whom the Moon Doth Shine and a Distance There Is were the best music performances I've ever heard or seen so far live. Some gold moments I would say. Now they are the last ones too.

I'm agree with you hoang.

I've made the mistake to buy Musique & Assembly... :-? that I have manage to sold in fact! :green:

I've didn't see them with Liv but I love the song A Distance There Is above all the piano live version.

Since she has made a band with her husband and a solo career I follow and prefer their music!

yeah so that's cool.

about me, I adore Musique and some songs only from Assembly.

as for Liv directions, I liked Deus Ex Machina and Leaves' eye s first album.

cheers.

Sad, yes, but almost inevitable, sooner or later. And that applies to just about all bands. Apart from the pressures/priorities of family life etc., if people don't move on, everything gets fossilised. Rolling Stones fans should perhaps take note ...

It's coincidental that I'm reading this on the day that "Jethro Tull" have been performing just down the road in York. I thought about going, but decided no. Why? Because it would be like going to see "What's left of Jethro Tull?", and the answer would probably just be a rather older Ian Anderson. Arguably, if Ian had let go of JT some time ago and done something completely different, he'd be a more attractive prospect.

My hope is that the individual members of ToT - and of other dismembered bands such as After Forever - will pop up doing something else, and will amaze us yet again.

They will. Hein (drums) and Lorentz (keyboards) are starting a new project.

My 2nd favorite band after The Gathering. So sad they are going to split up,
their music really means a lot for me. :( Hope I'll manage somehow to go to the last gig in Stavanger.

Velvet Darkness They Fear - maybe one of the best albums in history of music.

Theatre of tragedy needs our help!!!

Quote:
"As some of you have heard already Theatre of Tragedy are planning their first and last DVD with lots of live and background footage.
This should be some kind of farewell gift to the fans.

Now things have happened that make it quite difficult to get through with it.
The band thought the financial side was cleared (about 25000 Euros) but it was withdrawn at the last moment. This was quite a shock for everyone and we thought about a solution how to still go on with the DVD.
After lots of talks the label will now give 10000 Euros and the band members themselves will also give 10000 Euro for the production of the DVD.
This leaves us with a missing 5000 Euros.
Our idea now is to give you the possibility to make this DVD possible with your donations.
If we don't reach 5000 Euros within a week we will pay all your donations back of course but we sadly have to bury the idea of this DVD then.

If you donate 100 Euros or more we will put your name on the DVD cover and send you a signed DVD after the release.
But of course we appreciate every donation. Even 1 Euro.
Please contact us when you can't use paypal and you could wire the donation via IBAN and BIC bank transfer.

Let's give this a try. It's our last chance for a final Theatre of Tragedy release!"

Go to: http://theatreoftragedy.com/news.php?postID=145123 if you want to contribute (even 2 or 3 € would mean a lot I think). Just 3 days left till deadline.
And, of course, spread the word! After being one of the most influential bands in the gothic metal scene I think they deserve it, don't they?

And talking about "Velvet darkness they fear" ... Yes, it IS the best album in history. No doubt about it. It's nice to see other people thinking the same way I do.
By the way, although I live in Spain I'm going to attend their last gig in Stavanger ^ ^

about me, Don't really pay attention to their new music. But I can't say I don't care anymore.

one more detail: Nell fitted The Crest band much better than she does currently in ToT new era. In the past (from 1995 to 2002) The Crest and ToT were among my favourite bands. Now they're just ok bands.

Anyway, I wanted to give them a favor and it made me pleased to do so last week.
as they did helped me many years ago through their music.

Sometimes, some people donate for purposes they don't even know where it drives too.

I think mine was justified and quite fair.
