Burn, definitely give it a try, it's a great album, full of hope (which is not that tipical for anathema) and maybe their most mature album ever.

I think it's slowly becoming my favorite Anathema record, can't wait to buy it and listen to it on 5.1 DVD. :D

weird to hear that the band isn't in great shape though. :-?

I did a first spin from the beginning to Presence... I still dont like Angels Walk Amongst Us... I dunno if it's the rhythm pattern (already used too often in the past by Anathema) or the lyrics.. but it almost irrititates me..

The rest of what I heard is full of good ideas, even though sometimes I think melody-wise of lyric-wise it gets a bit more simpleton than what I was used to.
definitely what didnt work out live was the drums... john had probably a bad day... still I doubt this will become my Anathema's favorite...

Demo version of Angels walk among us released some years ago is my favorite Anathema song
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYzZpDw9yjM) so I was very sceptical about new version but I find it
great as demo just.. different.
The only song on album which didn't fit imho is "Get off, get out" but the rest i find simply awesome!

I don't think "Presence" fits in very well, either. The beginning is just weird, the end I think has some similarities with for example No Bird Call from TWP... Which is just completely different from the rest of the album...

All the other songs are just simply amazing... One hour of musical heaven... :)

I didnt dig into the album.. listened to it a couple of times... maybe I was expecting bigger change of direction after all those years and my expectations were maybe too high, but I cant get into that album as much as I did between Alternative 4 till A Fine Day to Exit...

I admit this band's music only fit my really dark moods in the past, but I'm completely in love with the new album. It almost feels like a spiritual journey full of hope, love and light. "Dreaming Light" and "Presence" are my favorites.

I'm getting a bit bored of this album...
The production is mature and the songs are very good. The Vincent vocal lines are purer.
The 4 four first songs are excellent but I just have to stop at the end of "Everything"
Angels Walk Among Us beginning reminds me so much of Angelica. and then skipping fo the other ones but nothing truly happens again.

I discovered this band with Pentecost III. Becoming a fan then... Through time, always prefered Alternative 4, then Judgement to A Fine Day, and finally A Natural Disaster.

and you know what, my favorite album is Eternity again. The most creative album to me.
and my favourite song is "Violence"

ok ok...please don't get anything with me and my taste. lol

I tried to give it a spin again... and well I never really got into it and I think I never will...
I think I join you hoang about the Alternative till A fine day...
About Eternity, it has great songs on it but I really dislike the production, I cant find another word than cheap to describe it...

I agree with you. The production is disturbing in Eternity.
pretty hard listening too for most current anathema fans... that's true.
well... well.. nevermind... I love it so much, the songs are more special... actually I remember I got it as a christmas present when it was released (the red digipack edition), it was a great surprise from Santa. both red ahaha...

;-) the reason why it's so special is I think Duncan Patterson... ;)

J'adore Eternity :D in fact one of the things i love most is the raw sound from the production :D so if it is cheap, i like cheap production hahahaha. I bought it in a Madrid record store after trying to find it for months here in Mexico and I found the red digipak myyyy god, i almost fainted :)

And about WHBWH for me it's still a powerful and joyful album, my fav is still Universal... makes my mind fly :)

I will make the difference between cheap as low budget (which not a sign of bad production) and cheap as poor quality.
Probably Eternity was cheap by its budget but alas to me, it's also cheap by its quality...

mmmm... sorry Burn, I don't get your differences .. cause low budget is part of quality criteria.

For ages, Quality is to reach customer's satisfaction or needs at the lowest cost or rates
(sorry for the quality lesson ehe)

To me, Eternity production is more than correct as a 14 years old album ..
sound is clear enough (are we listening to a bootleg, come on, no), and the songwriting and the atmosphere are just great too.
and like Faridee, j'adore its raw sound. It rocks!!!!
