I have noticed that the band Psychotic Waltz is mentioned quite a lot at this forum. It seems to be a band that many TG fans like. So I thought I'd download some of their stuff, but I don't know where to begin, actually. What are their best albums, their best songs, the things I should give a listen...?

Since I don't listen to them as often anymore as I did when their albums were released, I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this question, but in my opinion their first two albums "A Social Grace" and "Into The Everflow" are their best. The songs on these albums are also more complex than those on "Mosquito" and "Bleeding". When I listen to one of their albums nowadays, it's usually "Into The Everflow", which also contains three of my favourite Psychotic Waltz-songs, namely "Ashes" (what I don't like about this song is the somewhat abrupt ending and I wish the part after the very long introduction would last longer), "Into The Everflow" (I like how this song slowly builds up and then culminates in a long beautiful guitar solo-part) and the ballad "Hangin' On A String" (IMO one of the best ballads ever). My favourite songs on their debut are "I Remember", "Spiral Tower" and "Nothing".

However, since musical tastes are different, you should perhaps first check out their stuff on youtube to find out what you like best.

If i remember right, they have only 4 studio albums so my opinion is that you could listen to all of them.Though i prefer Bleeding and A Social Grace.

You could also check the singer's band Dead Soul Tribe

Check out "A Social Grace" and "Into The Everflow". "Mosquito" and "Bleeding" are good albums, but they can never compare with the ones mentioned first. They are milestones in music. Just my two cents... ;-)

Okay, so everybody seems to have a different opinion on what their best albums are. But it does seem like everyone thinks their best albums are milestones, legendary et cetera... :P

So I think the conclusion will be simple; since I have holidays now, I think I will listen to all four. I have already listened to A social grace and Bleeding, I thought, but I thought it was A social grace that I liked more... Don't know why exactly, actually... But in a few spins, it might end up on my list of classic albums... (:

But on this rainy day, it's a good time to listen their other two albums. So I'll go and do that.

If you like "A Social Grace", you can check out "Spiral Architect - A Sceptic's Universe". Sounds like Psychotic Waltz gone insane. :green:

German Rock Hard magazine announces, that Psychotic Waltz is back and working on new material. Unfortunately without guitarist Dan Rock and possibly without singer Buddy Lackey. Nevertheless great news! :D

If it's the same kind of music, it's great news! I don't care so much about new singers or stuff... :) I really like the previous PW albums, so... :)

Have any release dates been mentioned, or is it too early for that?

New album in 2011. No further information at the moment.

I need a new PW-album! Now! :green:

Okay, then I'll wait for that (I think I will be able to do that for a PW-album, unlike with p.e. Nightwish or something... :P )

I am pretty curious, however. Although I do think that the musical direction will be changed somehow over the last fifteen years, the albums they have already released sound promising... :)

The guys have found a singer, and his name is Devon Graves.

I hope he sings as good as Buddy Lackey... :green:

Spiral Architect is plain and simply the music of Watchtower, with the vocals of Phsychotic Waltz.
