@burn: sure we saw you
We didnt stay too long after the TG gig, i think after meeting the band in
the area we just stayed max. half an hour - we were tired.
So perhaps on mera luna... But its not sure that i will be there.
@all: it was a fantastic night there. Quite a strange crowd - i always thought
woodstock is long ago - but there i learned that hippies still exists
So,also for the band this evening must have been quite different to "normal" gigs - there were no TG fans (except for us 5) - so after the gig when they got out among the crowd there was no typical "being surrounded" by many
fans trying to talk to the bandmembers.
They 5 just stood together and had fun with themselves.
The gig was great! About 90 min - setlist the same as the hengeloo etc - except for cutting out BLD , analog park and souvenirs due to time limit.
The exact order i forgot... encore was Travel.
I think they made some new friends - a great performance and the crowd liked that. There were so many asking me about TG (i wore a TG shirt) wantig to know "who they are?", "where are they from?" , "Is it i new band - i never heared about them?"
Not much to add about Feedback's excellent report, except that it's been a delight hearing these good old tunes that are
Eleanor, Strange Machines, Inuït and In Motion #1 (been a long time for this one
)
Great to hear again "Liberty Bell" and "Probably built in the 50s" as well
We were really lucky to have an extra as "Travel" coz usually the band ends their open-airs gigs with "Machines" the 5 of us TG fans must have been really loudy frontstage
I did so much headbanging that today the nape of my neck still hurts, i probably get to old for that
Yes, it wasn't really the traditional public of Gatherers but like Feedback said, there were some people asking about TG, wondering about the music, the discography,...
e.g. these 2 (50 y. old) guys who came from an town between Kassel and Oberhausen and who have been going to Burg Herzberg Festival for the last 20 years, seems that have encountered the Third Kind that night
Same for these lovely 4 kids alongside with us who were really into TG's music
@ Burn: sure we recognized you with the now famous T-Shirt "Devin Townsend Band 2001 CANCELLED Tour"
I understand that U were busy coz you're the 6th live band member
@ Feedback and Jörg: a pleasure to see you again after Amsterdam 2005..., it's just a pity that we couldn't get in touch again in the end for sharing a last pint, must have been my friend Mario's thirsty of popping round to CD stands
