THE GATHERING VIDEO CLIP CONTEST


The Netherlands, Nijmegen, June 29th, 2006.

Hello all!!

Our new album 'Home' is out now for a couple of months and doing fine! Good response, nice reviews, good things! Thanks all!

It is about time for a new Gathering contest!

Just like 2 years ago (Gathering of Roots project) we invite everybody to make a video clip from the songs 'Alone' or 'Your Troubles Are Over' from our latest 'Home' record. Today a lot of talented people are capable to make professional video clips. We hope you will get inspired by these two songs and make something very nice out of it!! A clay animation? Low-fi industry slight show? Do whatever you want, as long as it's original, the copyright has to be yours, and it has to be tasteful (no sex, racism). You know what I mean.

You must get the video clip delivered on DV-tape or Mini DV tape + CDR/DVD for easy viewing.

What's the main price to win?
The winning video clip will be offered to TV and Online Music Channels for broadcasting and will get a place on our new -yet to be released- DVD 'A Noise Severe'. But there is more! We also have a 30GB IPod for the winning video clip director!

For the 2nd and 3rd best video clips directors we have a ‘The Gathering surprise pack’ available with nice the Gathering goodies, our original Nijmegen Beer and much, much more.

So pick up those cameras and ACTION!

Excellent! Although I wish I could also submit storyboards or animatics for a video shoot for some of the songs as well. I was listening to Waking Hour in my car the other day and thought up what I think would be a good treatment for a video for the song. However it would involve filming the band on location somewhere...

I doubt I'm old enough, but I hope that the winning video will be one of "Alone". I love that song to bits and pieces!

I agree. "Alone" is perhaps my favourite song of the whole album, and it evokes extremely powerful visuals in my mind. Unfortunately, I have neither the equipment, nor the expertise to take up the challenge, but I wish good luck and inspiration to all those who do! :wink:

This is a very good initiative, by the way! You guys should call upon the creativity of the fans more often like that, maybe expand to more fields, like writing, painting, photography, etc.!

It is indeed. Som eothe rvideos got broadcasted during the 15 year anniversary celebration in Breda and Oss.

Oh no, my videocamera broke down a few days ago... :( It's being hopefully repaired.. In a few days i'm going on vacation to the USA and the plans are to do some shooting for TG.. I have a concept in my mind, but i'm not sure yet if it will work out...
Problem is we only return the 10th of september... which gives me only 5 days to do the capturing and editing. :o

I had some very clear ideas of shot for the beginning of Alone but I couldnt see where it would lead further in the song...
