Hi, yesterday I've been to this unique gig by Anneke. It was great! It's very special to enjoy Anneke performing solo. And the surrounding (a living room) was perfect. There were about 50 people in the audience, including familie/boyfriend of the artists. And even 2 people from Germany and somebody from England who travelled such a long distance to see Anneke (and the other artists)! There were 3 artists performing this evening: Jente van Eck (Pleasing Jill), Jasper Vergeet (Undeclinable) and Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering as we all know). All singing + playing guitar. Each playing 3 songs, then there was a break followed by another 3 songs each. And as a kind of final they performed one song all together. The two other artists played very nice too. I didn't know them before. Besides some songs of The Gathering, Anneke did some unreleased songs and a cover too.

Setlist of Anneke:

1. 'My electricity'
2. 'Notthemostprettygirl' :D a beautiful song!
3. 'Bath of misery'

4. 'Jelena'
5. 'Joe's barroom' (Anneke singing with a high voice)
6. 'Locked away'

7. Extra song (encore): 'St. Teresa' of Joan Osborne

I've made some pictures of Anneke and the other artists. I'll put them online soon. The organization made some pictures as well. Those will appear on their website http://www.liveinthelivingroom.com

There was nobody making videorecordings. And there was no microphone to enhance the volume of the performing artists (so that was not recorded). All played fully acoustic.

There were 2 professional photographers (I think they were invited by the organization or maybe they were just a part of the audience). And besides these, some people took their small (digital or non-digital) photocamera with them to make some pictures.

There is an short video online of the last song (all artists together).
Made by somebody of the organisation (who was sitting next to me on the left).

On this website there is already a review of this gig present.
Pictures will follow soon...

About the last comment of this review:
are they seriously thinking about releasing this song (see video) on single !? 8)

@ Burn

He was talking about their (Anneke + Jasper + Jelte) cover of Joan Osborne (the last song of the night).

Thanks for the info and excellent review Martijn :D

I can only imagine how incredible it must have been to have seen this special performance. I am very curious and interested about the 3 unfamilar songs Anneke performed (Notthemostprettygirl, Bath of misery & Joe's barroom).....if you could possibly describe them please. Were any of these somewhat in the vein of The Gathering's sound?... or were they quite in a different style?

Very nice pictures posted on the livingroom site by the way. I will have to check out the video clip.

It was a great concert. I got the tip from Martijn (Thnx!) and since I live in Den Bosch I of course had to go. Came to see Anneke, but I was pleasantly surprised by the other two artists. The atmosphere was very intimate and I was surprised about how nervous all artists were. Also the very personal songs (almost too personal – felt like a voyeur) they played were great. The Live In The Living room concepts is great. I am definitely going to visit one again – great way to find new good artists.

Cheers!

I am so jealous of those of you who were there! The experience must have been fantastic! I too think that the idea of a live performance in a living room is great and very original!
@Martijn: really beautiful pics! Thank you!
