I know a place where they would fit in; Rock Werchter, big tent. If someone knows the right channel, I would do some lobbying and I can be pretty convincing... :P

All those bands are very pro on stage but musically speaking I think TG is far above in term of originality.. We'll see...

They fit just fine. They can show all the other bands how it's done right. :green:

One of the best festivals in Belgium without a doubt is Lokersefeesten.
http://www.lokersefeesten.be/

Price/quality/pleasant atmosphere, it's all great and it's very much focused on the alternative music scene. Bands like Front 242 or Sisters of Mercy practically sell out! Within Temptation played last year.

"Bewust proberen we van de Lokerse Feesten een 'muziekstijlenontdekking' te maken. Of het nu rock, pop, AOR, nederlandstalig, hip-hop, techno of wereldmuziek is, gedurende onze tien dagen kan je het allemaal meemaken."

translation: On Lokerse Feesten we try to present the audience a variety of music styles, going from rock, pop, AOR, dutch, hip-hop, techno to urban music, in about 10 days one can experience it all.

It would be great to see TG on this festival someday.

Due to various circumstances the Gathering decided not to
participate at the Metal Female Voices Fest V, the 20th october
2007 in Wieze, Belgium. On various points, such as our position
on the bill, we had too much disagreements with the MFVF management.
We feel sorry to make this decision, but we hope we will
play this festival in 2008.

Cheers,
The Gathering

^ It should be better like this, you wouldn't fit anyway.

I am really glad for this decision! :D

It shows the attitude of the band perfectly!

Shut up. LOL

You were going anyway. :P

I might still skip this gig if TG have some other fest that I might want to go to, or better yet a few shows in holland back to back nights. I just wont have a passport until around the end of march or I would try to go to the 3 Mexico shows.

The two bands I wanted to see most have cancelled. After Forever, Epica, and Leaves Eyes will all be in the US right before the fest. So that leaves Draconian and Battelore as my main reasons for going and I dont think flying 4,000 miles is something I want to do for just them.

A headlining gig in Brussels on October 19th would make up for it.

Well I am absolutely gutted they're no longer playing, I was ecstatic when they were confirmed. Whether or not they 'fitted' there were a lot of people there who wanted to see them. They don't seem to be coming to the UK anytime soon, and now I when I decide to travel to see them they cancel! I guess I'll just have to stick with the dvd as the closest I'm ever going to get.

I´m deeply disappointed, because The Gathering were actually the only band I was really interested in seeing at this festival and I already missed them last spring when their German tour got cancelled!

Don´t know what the other points might have been, but what slot on the bill had you been promised before your participation was confirmed a few weeks ago? Have you been tricked by the management of the MFVF? Under which condition would you have played? Actually, I think the position of the headliner (if that is what you had been aiming for) at this festival is definitely not the best, because considerung the big amount of bands playing, it´s very likely that most people in the audience will already be very tired when the headliner enters the stage.

I was very pleased that Lacuna Coil were headliners at the MFVF two years ago, because since I was not interested in them it allowed me to leave earlier. And it will be the same with Leaves´ Eyes this year, whom I don´t care much about either.

Well you never know what are the other reasons, but let me have one guess: if Leave's Eye is to record a DVD during that festival, probably they require too much from the organisation, that would tends to disregard other bands request to make sure Leave's Eye is pleased...

I mean a DVD shooting at your venue/event is a great publicity...
If you see how A Sound Relief was shot: Paradiso, the band was early and took really time through the complete day to set the things up, without support act...

Could be one serious and good reason to not want to play anymore...
