I'll be there. It's the same venue where I saw them the last time - in December 2004.

The setlist was very similar to what they used to play in December. It was actually the first show with Silje I could see from the room and she impressed me very very much!!
Overall it was a very good performance I think :)
The sound in the venue didnt give Hugo justice.. it was not really defined sound in the low... pity.... But he did great!
It was fun to see Hugo on stage again, but a bit weird aswell... especially when you stand next to Marjolein, who came as a visitor to check teh gig too hihihi :)

I enjoyed the concert very much in spite of the fact that especially during the first half of the set it seemed to me that Silje's voice often was barely audible. At first I thought this might be because I was standing nearly right in front of René, thus his guitar sound would overshadow the vocals, but that wouldn't explain why Silje's voice was suddenly better audible during songs like "Leaves" and "In Motion # 1" in the second half of the set.

For me, The Gathering are (still) one of those bands whose live versions I usually prefer to the studio versions, especially as regards the newer songs. I was also very pleased that their set included three of my favourite songs from what I still consider my favourite The Gathering album, namely "Great Ocean Road", "Travel" (the last song of their regular set) and "Marooned" (the first of the two encores they played) from "How To Measure A Planet?".

I think what I enjoyed most was René's guitar-playing. Since I was standing so close to the stage, this was the first time I noticed that he also had to use his feet quite a lot switching between the different sound-effects on the floor.

While I wouldn't have minded a longer set - who would? -, I think 15 songs (including two encores) with a playing time of about 95 minutes was OK. I just hope I won't have to wait another 6 years until I get to see The Gathering again in Krefeld (or another place in this region).

If I'm not mistaken, this was the setlist

Quote:
when trust becomes sound
no one spoke
great ocean road
inuit
constant run
analog park
west pole
leaves
in motion 1
no bird call
spirits
saturnine
travel

encore:
marooned
all you are

So you have
2 songs of Mandylion
1 song of Nighttime
3 songs of How to...
2 songs of ITE
1 song of Souvenirs
6 songs of TWP

I consider everything older than Souvenirs as old songs... so that makes it about 50/50 between old and new :)
The only concern I have about this set list is Marooned. To me it's just doesnt really fit there.. Maybe replace it by Treasure or Probably Built in the 50's
Also, Saturnine was so powerful yesterday that it could have been the finishing song of the regular set ;)

You're not mistaken. I didn't write it down, but this list looks like those I saw lying on the stage.

Agreed! I do hope they play it again live on the current tour.

So if anyone of the band reads this, make sure you play 'Treasure' at the Z7 in Switzerland, would you?

I don't like the set list...
I hope one more power... I'd like listen Strange Machines, Stonegarden or whatever. But I'd like a little change in the set list... after all, The Gathering is in Anniversary.

But it's also a tour to promote the new album... the Gathering is used to putting lots of song from their latest album in the setlist...
But I would indeed set Marooned out of the setlist or not put it there... Treasure could fill in the "blank"... Or maybe Liberty Bell (but I'm not sure Silje has sung it yet). Monsters isnt my favorite track but the live version (with the new brigde) is quite cool and energic:D
