I think the last album is Ok, specially compared to Fallen. But, has anyone heard their pre-fallen stuff? They have some amazing songs in their demos. I don't know what happened to them with Fallen, it's like their producer made them include distorted guitars in every song just because.
Still, I think the open door is a step in the right direction...

I have the pre-fallen stuff  I have all the EP's, demo's, unreleashed songs. And I love it, every song of it :flower:

I have all their pre-fallen stuff, and demo versions of Fallen. I really liked how they sounded back then... kinda more experimental? It was good. Love love love The Open Door though.

I have the new album, I was sent a pre-release copy. I really, really like it. It's better than Fallen in my opinion. You can feel they've grown as a band and I think it really works.

Don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Confine me
Make up your mind

Should I let you fall
Lose it all
So maybe you can remember yourself
Can't keep believing
We're only deceiving ourselves
And I'm sick of the lie
And you're too late

Don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Confine me
Make up your mind

Couldn't take the blame
Sick with shame
Must be exhausting to lose your own game
Selfishly hated
No wonder you're jaded
You can't play the victim this time
And you're too late

Don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Confine me
Make up your mind

You never call me when you're sober
You only want it cause it's over
It's over

How could I have burned paradise?
How could I? You were never mine!

So don't cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
Don't lie to me
Just get your things
I've made up your mind

Not bad. It's a little annoying the first few times but it's pretty nice afterwards. The video's a little cliche. The first time I heard it I didn't even know it was Evanescence so I got out a paper and pen so I could jot down their name when the online radio dude said it : :green: .

The Open Door is a wonderful album. I can't stop listening to it. The song writing is very strong and I feel a lot of emotion in the lyrics. The melodies are beautiful, powerful and deeply touching in parts. It's true that Amy's voice has improved quite considerably. This is a grand album.

My favourite tracks are:
Good Enough
Weight of the World
Lacrymosa
Lose Control
Lithium

I agree. There's a Rolling Stone review out there on the Internet that focuses very much on trying to portray Amy Lee as an ordinary all-American girl, and seems to want to stress the ordinariness beneath the semi-gothic complexity, but I don't understand that point of view. After all, beneath whatever cultural overlays we adopt, we're all ordinary people.

I'm more concerned with development, writing from the heart and so on. My verdict so far is that The Open Door is far better than Fallen in many respects. First, it's deeper and darker. My initial reaction was "What has she been listening to?" With this album, the band (with a changed line-up, of course) moves away from the nu-metal fringe into something that connects much more with the dark European music - but the Rolling Stone reviewer doesn't even make any European connections or comparisons, despite the Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation and even After Forever moments that I hear in the music. Given that just a few days after release, The Open Door is already near the top of the UK album charts, I can understand that many well-established continental European bands and their fans may well be displeased that a bunch of Americans - with their instant access to the mainstream Anglo-American rock world - can just walk in and enjoy huge success, but that shouldn't prevent us from enjoying this album to the full. It would be interesting to see the band playing at the same venues as the European bands, operating in the same realm. It would also be interesting to see the great mass of Evanescence fans doing a bit of research to find out about the other great bands on offer.

A word about Amy and her voice. I've never been a big fan, because I think Amy tends to "whine" a bit too much. There's something about her voice that I don't really like. But on this album she sings lower, and differently, and it's much more effective.

I never been Amy’s fan ether. She has her bright moments, but for me, most of the time
her singing and her voice is annoying. About the new album, I don’t now, I listened it
once and it didn’t touch me at all. There is so much good music out there that I don’t
think I will ever listen this album again.

I agree with that. I think the Album is less commercial than "fallen" (less capable for MTV).

ok, a couple of weeks later i can say i still like the Album and i still listen to it. I like this dark atmosphere. I heard that "lithium" is the next single and i think it is a good choice. "lithium" is one of my favorite songs.

Lithium is a wonderful choice as next single, and the video can only be described as exquisite.
