Sorry it was such a late date- but it took them that long to show up on our far shores (US Tour- Milwaukee Metalfest show).
It was excellent, and I am sure that they got great exposure- but they were rather down on the play list (6pm day 1, or somewhere) before really weak acts like Skinlab
A longer set would have been wonderful (I see that the rest of their US shows included a fuller play list, and an encore) too bad CM couldn't do more for them.
An amazing show nonetheless- Anneke was in a silver sparkling dress, Rene had a yellow Willie Nelson shirt (?) and Hans was shirtless (couldn't see Hugo or Frank from where I was (stage left, right up against barrier).
Yes, my first Gathering show was the same as Vaccinator's.....July 30 1999 at Milwaukee Metalfest....and then again 3 days later (August 2) in Wheaton, MD. I do agree it was a rather lackluster metalfest. If I could do it over again, I would've left the metalfest after day 1 (when The Gathering played) and gone to the two Ohio shows in Lorain & Columbus before returning home to MD for the show August 2. I don't know what I was thinking.
That could have been incredible to catch 4 Gathering shows in a row. I wouldn't have missed much by skipping out on day 2 of the metalfest.....The Gathering was the main reason I went anyway.
That's kind of funny about Rene in the Willie Nelson shirt??....I have no idea, I just remember it was some yellow jersey/longsleeve. I'll have to take a look at the video to see if I can read what his shirt says.
